About Me
Hey guys! My name is Lucas (he/him) and I am super excited to be taking this class. Ever since I got to high school I had a passion for teaching so the elementary education program at UVIC seemed like a great fit for my future career. A little bit more about me is that I am from a small town called Smithers in Northern British Columbia but moved to the island after being accepted into this program. I played hockey for 9 years but quit in order to begin working in children-based environments and I still play soccer recreationally today. Running is one of my favourite things to do and it often acts as my escape from reality. I’m not the most tech-savvy person on the planet so I’m interested to learn about all the tools I have available to use in a classroom setting. Diving into my history of experiences with children I ran summer camps at my town pool for two years and also co-directed two Christmas plays for two Grade 7 classes my senior year of high school. I find enjoyment when I make a difference in a child’s life and hope to do that as a future elementary school teacher.
